Day 93: October 2, 2009

Dad was worried because his cousin, Ninang Gie, was living in San Mateo, Rizal and after one whole week of trying to reach her through phone and not getting anything, he decided to go there and check if she’s okay. Took photos on the way there. Everything was covered with mud! All gasoline stations were closed, cars covered with mud are everywhere, and in every block there are piles and piles of ruined furniture. We also passed by several evacuation centers full of evacuees. It was so depressing. When we got to my Ninang Gie’s place, we found out that the flood there last Saturday was up to their shoulders. Her whole first floor was flooded and she had to transfer all her appliances to the 2nd floor. Good thing she has nice neighbours because there’s no one to help her. Its just her and her 5 y/o son living together. We helped her fix her things, transferred some more appliances to her 2nd floor, cos we were still anticipating Typhoon Pepeng. We had to leave early to avoid traffic and risk being stranded because of the flood.

Passed by Caloocan on the way home to visit Lola, my aunts and uncles, and of course, my beloved cousins. :)
